Identity control is the process of verifying a user’s identity and the resources they can access. Authentication,a major aspect of identity control, is the process of determining that the user or system is, in fact, who they say they are. The second part of identity control is authorization, which is the process of determining whether the user can access the resources or not. Identity control is often also referred to as identity and access management (IAM) and is an essential part of API security.
