An API Community that Spans All Boundaries Travis Spencer March 4, 2014 Our aim with Nordic APIs is to build an inclusive community of people working with APIs. We are striving to ensure that this community spans regions, industries, and other divides. To this end, we have traveled around the Nordics last year and are doing it again later this month. We’re even offering free train and airline tickets to our upcoming events because we know that not everyone lives in the capital cities. Bringing Down the API Gender Divide Another important obstacle that we’re working to tear down is the lack of diversity. At previous events, we’ve had great women on stage, like Eva Sjökvist from Absolut, Kemie Guaida from Dopter and Ellen Sundh from Coda Collective. And we’re not stopping with them! We are very proud to have Pernilla Näsfors from the World Bank with us on March 31 in Stockholm; Anne-Sofie Nielsen from Kapow Software and Cathrine Lippert from the Danish Agency for Digitisation along with us in Copenhagen on April 1; and Kristine Lyng from MET Norway with us in Oslo on April 3. We know these women have a lot of great insights to share with us all about private, partner, and public APIs. We’re really looking forward to it! We still need one more speaker in Helsinki on April 2. Know any Finish women working in the API space who would like to share with the community about what they’re doing? Ping us if so. Five Free Tickets for Women API Professionals In our continued effort to make Nordic APIs inclusive and in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, we are offering free tickets to the first five women who would like to attend any of the stops on our upcoming tour. We really want you to attend and share your views on APIs. We’ll start with lunch at 11:30, so come in time to mingle with others. Sessions will start at 12:30 and continue till 17:00. To get a ticket, send us an email indicating which of the 4 cities you’d like to attend. We’ll send you a code that you can use to register for free. We only have 5 of these available in each city though, so act quickly. An API Community that Includes Everyone We hope that you all will help us in building this community and join us in a few weeks in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, or Oslo.
