From Flying Blind to Full Visibility: Implementing Real-Time API Observability with AI-Powered Anomaly Detection

As the AI-driven economy grows, so does that of APIs yet many organisations still struggle with granular API visibility leaving them flying blind when it comes to real-time monitoring and proactive issue detection. In this talk I will walk through my journey of transitioning from a lack of visibility to implementing AI-powered API observability with anomaly detection.
I’m not a monitoring expert, just an API and AI enthusiast who used curiosity to build an AI powered monitoring dashboard to help me understand API observability.

Based on my findings, the talk will cover:
The importance of granular visibility in monitoring APIs at scale in real time
How anomaly detection is great for identifying potential performance or security issues early
Why using tools such as OpenTelementry are good with traces, metrics and logs to provide full observability.
An example of how I learnt and used anomaly detection to surface a potential security issue

This talk is perfect if you have heard of observability but haven’t had time or courage (which was my case) to dive in. The audience will leave with the ability to potentially instrument their APIs and detect issues faster using real-time monitoring and AI-driven insights.
