Last week we had our first Nordic APIs meetup and we visited Gothenburg for the first time. We want to thank everyone that came, talked about APIs over pizza and listen to our presentations. Also a big thank you to Västtrafik for making the meetup possible. Here’s a summary of the three presentations…

20 APIs in 20 Minutes

Initially Andreas Krohn from Dopter gave a broad overview of 20 different APIs to show examples of what is available and what can be done with APIs.

Running an API 24/365

Federico Hernandez from Västtrafik talked abou thow to keep an API running all year long, no matter what.

A Magical Example of API Security

Finnally Travis Spencer from Twobo Technologies talked about how to connect several different security standards into a great user experience. Travis’ talk centered around three main parts:

• The societal shifts that we’re all facing and their consequences for businesses
• Overcome the challenges introduced by these through the use of neo-security
• An example with Salesforce, Workday and other apps that support OAuth 2 and federation

The demo showed how easy it can be to enhance the UX and security of an app if the API utilizes open standards for authentication and authorization.
