Book your rooms here Travel Assistance We are a non-profit community organization first and foremost, and any proceeds from Nordic APIs events are used to fund the online community. It helps us keep the website cost and commercial free, so everyone can have access to neutral and relevant information about APIs. This means that unfortunately, we cannot offer our speakers travel assistance. Agenda Updates Speaker profiles and session information are published to the conference website. Be sure to review your details for accuracy. The conference agenda is up! Check it out here. To avoid delays for the rest of the day it’s very important that you keep to the time schedule. To help, we will have staff in the room to keep an eye on the time and remind you when your session is coming to a close. There are a few different session types, which you can see outlined below. Regular Sessions A ‘Regular session’, means you will have 20 minutes to present. You do not have to leave time for questions in these 20 minutes. Instead all speakers in the same ‘session block’ will be asked up on stage at the end of the block to give the audience the opportunity to ask everyone questions. Our regular sessions are grouped together in blocks (or tracks) according to themes, this could be strategy, security, platforms or business models for example. We will use the information included in your submission to place sessions in the relevant track. Keynote Sessions If you have been allocated a ‘Keynote Session’ you will have 25 or 30 minutes to present. The exact time of your session will be visible on the website when the schedule is published. A keynote session is presented to the whole audience in the main auditorium When planning your session, please, account for some time to answer questions at the end of your talk since this is included in your allotted session time. Lightning Talk/Demo If you have a ‘Lightning Talk/Demo’ you will have 15 minutes to present. You do not have to leave time for questions in this time slot. Instead all speakers in the same ‘session block’ will be asked up on stage at the end of the block to give the audience the opportunity to ask everyone questions. Tips For Your Speaking Slot We’ve hosted a lot of events over the years, and the audience response plus delegate feedback has given us a good understanding of what is appreciated (or not) in a talk. Here are a few tips for your speaking slot: Always a good idea: Take-aways, upcoming trends and case studies. A big no-no: Sales pitch! Too product focused. This will lose the audience’s interest very quickly. Don’t forget: To be fun and engaging. Tell the audience what didn’t work out, why and how you solved the problem. Filming & Sharing of Presentations All sessions will be filmed and published on our YouTube Channel: youtube.com/user/nordicapis. We will also publish all of the presentations on our SlideShare – if you do not wish to have your presentation featured on SlideShare or YouTube, please let us know by emailing renee.gilliland@nordicapis.com. Presentation & Preparations Don’t forget to check your presentation in advance, to ensure that you have all the relevant programs and updates on your computer. We will also ask you to do a laptop and sounds test at the event venue during one of the breaks before your session. When onsite, just contact a member of the Nordic APIs team to set it up, or email renee.gilliland@nordicapis.com to book a time in advance. HDMI is the standard connection but Display ports and USB-C will also be available. Wi-Fi is free and open in the entire venue. You will present using your own laptop, but we still ask all speakers to send us their presentations prior to the event – consider this a backup if something goes wrong. Registration & Arrival When you arrive at the venue please register and collect your speaker badge from the registration desk. You will then also be reminded to go to the room where your talk will happen to make sure all the technical bits are working for your session. If, for whatever reason, you are running late, please let the Event Planner, Renee Gilliland – renee.gilliland@nordiapis.com – know as soon as possible and inform her of when you will be arriving. When You Arrive For Your Session When you arrive in the room for your session, please make yourself known to one of the Nordic API staff, they will help get you set up. Feel free to take a seat in the front row, where we’ll reserve seats for speakers. Be An Active Part Of The Conference We encourage you to have your speaker badge visible throughout the conference to encourage discussions and interactions with your fellow members of the tech community. The most interesting conversations often happen during the coffee breaks! Our community is built on the premise of information and knowledge sharing within the API space, and kept alive by industry experts, such as yourself, contributing to this information pool. To reach as many, and as far as possible, we would be very grateful if you would help us promote your own, or a speaker colleague’s, talk on your social platforms, use #AustinAPISummit and #NordicAPIs when mentioning the event on social media.
