Microservices have emerged as the gold standard for modern, cloud-native software architecture, enabling speed, scale, resilience and portability. However, once an Enterprise starts to adopt microservices and the number of them starts to grow, they quickly realize that they need a common, centrally-managed way to deal with cross-cutting concerns, such as observability, security and network policy. While a strong API Management layer may help with the developer experience, it does not help manage your sprawling microservices. To address this challenge, the industry has introduced an architecture pattern known as the service mesh, and it is taking the microservices world by storm. This session will cover where the service mesh came from, its rapidly climbing adoption, and why adopting one is critical to any organization that is serious about rapid innovation.
