More and more customers and users expect a degree or level of contextualisation when using apps, webapps and web services to improve their experience, whatever the context, or contexts might be. Major challenges arise because context implies a degree of data memory, semantics and cross-linkage, and this can be perceived as privacy violation by some users. As such some businesses or even industries are struggling to embrace it within their API economy. Some reasons are a lack of knowledge, a vision or simply being worried about security. This is especially true for creating safe, reusable definitions and contexts allowing direct impact to the return of API calls. Due to rising requirements like Privacy and GDPR policy compliance and general security concerns, this is particularly difficult. We intend to share our story of how we help our customers to achieve a level of confidence in this sector. This story will include a part that describes how the API Gateway helped a customer tackling context management and security as well as a part regarding a general overview on how we envision context management and security in our solutions.
