gRPC stands for Google Remote Procedure Call. The Google-developed framework enables efficient and secure communication between distributed systems by allowing applications to call methods on a remote server as if they were local methods, hiding much of the complexity of network communication. Key features include language agnostic, protobufs, HTTP/2, bidirectional streaming, pluggable authentication, and load balancing.
