RESTful API design: resources and peace

Jan Ypma Tradeshift

When you run an online business, the most important interface to have is an open data API. By relying on standards and established technologies, you allow API integrators to use existing knowledge when connecting to your data. Furthermore, making your API resource-oriented (REST) rather than service-oriented increases learning speed and reduces the need for additional documentation.

At Tradeshift, they expose all their data through a REST API, which is automatically documented, and deployed twice a week together with their platform. In this presentation, Jan Ypma will present the practices and technologies that they use to keep their API peaceful and understandable with a
minimal time effort, while not having needed to deprecate a single API call for several years.
