The engineering team at Cloud Elements has been transitioning from a single monolithic service to a hybrid microservices/serverless architecture. Like many others, we desired the benefits that a microservices architecture promised. I’d like to discuss our motivations and methods, things we did well, and challenges we faced. I’ll share which of our motivations were valid and which ended up being fallacies. I’ll also share lessons we learned in testing, deployment, and integration.
